Streaming equipment might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Pro-Ject Audio. In fact, it might be one of the last things. But really, we're more open to digital audio than you might think.
We like digital streaming, provided it's played at the best possible sound quality. We weren't happy with the alternatives, so we figured we'd do it ourselves. The Stream Box DSA is more than just for streaming though - it includes an integrated amplifier and support for other digital inputs with its in-built digital-analogue converter.
The Stream Box DSA supports Internet radio and network streaming via WiFi, with a large full colour display for artist and station information. It comes with a remote, but you might prefer to control it with the dedicated app for Android or iOS.
Some streaming products with amplifier sections just don't have enough juice to get the job done right. But the Stream Box DSA is nothing to scoff at, rated at 40 Watts per channel into 4 Ohms, or 60 Watts into 8 Ohms, across a full frequency range. That's enough to drive some of the more power hungry, full driver array bookshelf speakers and some small floorstanders. On top of that, it provides a real audiophile performance, with none of the electronic sound of other amplified streaming components.
Thanks to two analogue inputs, you can also use a turntable with it provided you've also got a phono stage. A Stream Box DSA, turntable and pair of speakers can make up a whole system with a big variety of ways to play.
